In October 2018, I founded Aberdeen Taexali Rugby Club and set out to create something that would benefit the community and bring people together. It was about inclusivity and trying something new. I don’t have a rugby background but have openly said many times that an opportunity came along for me to start the club and I took it.
For me it was about building something from nothing and seeing how far it could go and from that perspective it has been a success and I had some great support from the beginning to help shape the club. Several weeks ago, Joe [Burnett] took over the running of the committee to allow me the time I needed to work on other commitments and concentrate on other areas of my life.
The club has grown massively and the potential that the club has is endless with the right people at the helm. I hope to still play a part in running and developing the club from a different position within the committee and I would like to thank those who have supported and helped me build the club into what it is now. I am so proud of what we have achieved and hope the club continues to go from strength to strength in the future. I’m very excited to see what happens in the next chapter for Aberdeen Taexali.
